Here are a few of my most recent acquisitions, collected from here and there.
I thought about showing you all my recent finds but 1) don't think anyone but me really cares and 2) I am a bit embarrassed by the lack of order. I really need to further hone the collection.
Actually, maybe I'm just overwhelmed and uninspired. You see, I have a new setup that's perfect for Pyrex but it's in a weird nook in the hallway so it gets zero natural light. The colors just don't look as good as I they should in there...
Probably just over analyzing and thinking about it too hard. But tell me, how are you displaying your collection?
Anyways, I love, love, love mixing Pyrex and FireKing / Glasbake. Don't these just look like they were made for each other? So sweet!
Speaking of mixing.... FireKing Primrose + Pink Pyrex = Perfection. (Primrose casserole was one of my recent acquisitions, if you were wondering)

Sometimes, a lot of times, I have to remind myself to enjoy the now.
To bask in the moment. To see the blessing.
Because, sometimes, I get caught up in the planning of "tomorrow". Obsessed with my To-Do list.
Feeling like things are always almost done and ignoring the currently completed awesome.
That is no way to live.

As I shared a couple posts ago, I started a new job (which I think is going to be absolutely great once I'm settled in) so Monday and Tuesday were spent cramming my head full of new job training bits. Nothing hard, but exhausting, none-the-less. Wednesday and Thursday were spent corralling my sweet teens during a lock-in at our church.
If you've ever been to a church lock-in or hosted a one, you know there's a whole lot of activity and very little sleeping. Now, when planning the lock-in, I was a bit tricksy about the sort of exhausting activity we would be doing. You see, the fellowship hall in our church had nasty, nasty, outdated wood paneling that I just couldn't stand any longer. Since it couldn't be ripped out, it needed to change colors. Hello, Paint. I set the very ambitious goal of getting the entire fellowship hall painted.
You know, since I had a gaggle of teenagers under my command.
We got it done! They were so awesome. They all worked so hard and no one complained that I had lured them there under the pretense of fun only put them to work.
Although, FYI, it was not all work and no play at the lock-in. I'm not a slave driver.
Also, if you were wondering about the timing of things, I did not plan to have the lock-in smack in the middle of my new work week. It just kinda happened that way. The lock-in had been on my calendar for ages, the new job start date popped up.
Such is life.
The lack of sleep did make Friday an interesting day at work though.

Today, I start my job.
It's not possible to portray in words how excited I am to say that. :D
Right now it still feels a bit surreal but I'm sure that will have passed by the time I get home tonight.
Are you curious about the details? Let me fill you in...
My title is Graphic Design Assistant and I'm employed by the county library. It's currently a part-time position (which perfectly OK with me since I have one more semester of school to complete) but if they like me and the work I do, I will move on to full time. !!!
This job opportunity makes me so thankful for God's timing.
I applied to and interview for a couple paid internships earlier in the summer. To be honest, I was super frustrated that I didn't get either position. Now, I'm super thankful.
It also makes me thankful that God answers prayers by allowing (or not allowing) opportunities. Keith and I had been wondering and praying about whether or not we would stay in the area after we completed school. It's starting to looking like we are supposed to stay, yeah?

Here is a little peek into the book, to give you a view of the most recent pages. Can you tell which element was continued? *Hint*- it's likely there is more than one. We are snazzy like that ;)
The first page was done by both Isannah and Jenna. They do theirs together because, well, it is a rule Kali and I set. ;)
Kali did the second page and I did the last one.
What do you think?

So here is a little bit of embroidery I started. It's a narwhal, if the lack of tusk was causing you to be unsure. ;)
Now, I wish I could say that this post is about inspiring and motivating you to stitch something awesome, but, really, it's not. Although, this post is kinda about you. Sorta?
You see, I'm quite bad about starting little sewing projects and never finishing them. The craft closet is becoming a graveyard of sad, lonely stitches that got abandoned when something more interesting came about. Anyone else guilty of this?
I'm hoping that by posting a started project you will hold me accountable to get it finished.
You know, give me a prodding comment if you don't see the finished product within a reasonable amount of time.
What do you think? Shall we be stitching accountability buddies?

I'm sure this is seriously stupid to some people but to me, it's kind of a big deal...
Check out those dangly earrings, yo! Aren't they snazzy?
Dangly earrings get snaggled in curly hair so they tend to be an accessory I steer away from. I quite like these though. PLUS, my grandma gave them to me. Can't not try a gift, right?
Anyways, long story short, after an evening of wearing these I came to the conclusion that I definitely like them. Kinda big but not too big. Substantial but not earlobe stretching. Dangly, but not crazy. And, most importantly, they don't have loops or little wires to catch my curls. Gold star.
Although, in all fairness, my hair was kinda pulled back so maybe I should have worn them with my hair completely down for a better test.
On a side note, last night, at about the time Keith was taking these pics, there was chaos in the alley. From the looks of it, an evicted tenet had not cleared out their stuff and it was being cleared out for them. Stuff was flying off the balcony and smashing. Then, if that wasn't entertaining enough, there was a cursing match between the two Clearers. After a minute of yelling and such, one stomped off while the other continued to curse and laugh maniacally. If it hadn't been in the middle of the day it probably would have been creepy.
Now, what does that have to do with me? Not much. Although, normally we take pictures against the back of the building. The walls are more open, making a better background, and there are fewer people to gawk. As you can imagine though, we really didn't want to be close to that scene while it was still so heated. Sooo to the courtyard we went where I was photographed in a central place as Keith zoomed in on my ear. Blogging can be so awkward, yeah?

This little post is to go in conjunction with this little throw-back post in which I shared a picture of a quilt.
You see, I still have the quilt. As does my sister who also got a quilt at the same time. As do my other two sisters who also got quilts. Though not at the same time, since they were not yet in existence ;)
Anyways, I thought it would be fun to share a few pics of current us with our lovely quilts.
^ Despite the grey color, the sky was crazy bright. We were struggling.
Isn't my Grams lovely?

It's the season of creepers and crawlers, yeah?
The above three of these were taken by my littlest sister, who is about as infatuated with my camera as I am. The other was taken by me.
You see, I got a new (to me), completely manual lens and we needed some subjects to practice on. I guess she is not much a flower person either.

Apparently, rug making runs in my blood!
When my grandma came to visit, she brought a mini braided rug she made years ago.
Get this people... there is fabric in this from the dress she wore to her Junior High dance with my Grandpa.
Is that not the sweetest thing ever?

A few snaps from the holiday.
Was yours filled with lots of goodness as well?
Not pictured: Delicious pulled pork and corn on the cob, a sick puppy and visiting family.
Also not pictured is the fabulous weather? How do you photograph that? It's been so wonderfully cool. Not like last years Fourth where just walking caused profuse sweating.

My sweet little home town has been all about the bike paths lately. Laying them here and there and everywhere. Weaving them behind and around buildings that are typically seen in street view only. This particular segment was new to us, although it was probably put in a year or so ago. The official name escapes me but it was Industrial ___something__. Imagine that, right?
On a semi-side note: I have found, in my old age, that bike riding is a bit *painful* and *jarring* and am now in the market for a giant jelly seat. Any recommendations?
